Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's achieved huge popularity with her stories that she shares about her childhood heartbreak. Swift's love for music started in the early years of her life. From children's plays to singing in front of thousands of people, Swift made rapid progress. In 2011, Swift, then 11, sang The Star-Spangled Banner during a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. In the year following, she started writing her own music. Swift was inspired by artists in country music such as Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks as well as the Chicks to come up with original songs which reflected the alienation she experienced at 13 years old. Swift relocated from Pennsylvania along with her parents to Hendersonville, Tennessee when she reached 13 and decided to spend more time to reaching out to label representatives from the country genre.
